The Tutor Shack’s funky, energetic vibe and impressive track record of standardized test preparation has helped it grow significantly in recent years, but the company still faces strong competition from several nearby tutoring firms. I took over the company's dormant social media feeds in 2019, using a blend of educational and fun posts to quickly build a following among students, parents, and others in the community.

At Validea Capital Management, we faced two main marketing challenges: 1) how to make a complicated quantitative investing system understandable for lay investors, and 2) how to earn new clients' trust at a time when thoughts of the stock market made most investors cringe. We needed a voice that was expert but not esoteric, optimistic but not Pollyannaish. Pieces I wrote for print publications like Forbes and Globe and Mail and websites like Seeking Alpha threaded both those needles, greatly expanding our brand authority and market reach. So too did The Hot List, a biweekly newsletter I wrote, and The Guru Investor, a book I ghostwrote detailing our investment strategy and examining Wall Street "gurus" like Warren Buffett.
The reporting I did early in my career taught me how to ask the right questions to get to the heart of a story. My work has spanned a range of subjects, from local politics to education to crime. I've interviewed award-winning authors and actors, high-profile politicians, and a myriad of everyday people with fascinating stories.

I'm a copywriter and ghostwriter who has been telling the stories of people, places, and companies for two decades. I specialize in taking complex topics and distilling them down to their essence for readers and consumers.
As a journalist, I won awards from the New England Press Association, Suburban Newspapers of America, and the Society of Professional Journalists. I received my MFA in creative nonfiction from The New School and earned the Joan Jakobson Fellowship in nonfiction from the Wesleyan Writers Conference in 2018. I'm currently working on a memoir.
